What Makes it Healthy?

If I’m being honest with you, healthy is a very relative term. You can read all about that in my blog post about reclaiming the word healthy here.

To me, what makes this recipe healthy is the fact that it’s homemade with just a handful of ingredients. Most of these ingredients are nourishing, nutrient-rich ones, like greek yogurt, frozen berries, and lemon juice. The fact that I recommend serving it with fruit that’s also packed with various vitamins and minerals helps, too.

The main ingredient in this berry cheesecake dip is plain greek yogurt. I prefer to use a higher fat yogurt (2-5% milk fat) in order to lend a creamier texture and more satisfaction (fat helps us feel fuller, longer!). However, feel free to use a low or non-fat greek yogurt if you prefer.

Ingredients in Berry Cheesecake Dip:

Plain greek yogurt. The base.

Light cream cheese. For that creamy, cheesecake-like texture and flavour.

Maple syrup to sweeten.

Lemon juice for that tangy-ness that all cheesecake needs.

Frozen berries, blended. For berry flavour!

How to Make Healthy Cheesecake Dip:

Using either a stand mixer or a hand-mixer, we’ll beat together the greek yogurt and cream cheese first. Then add maple syrup and lemon juice and mix again.

After this, we take about 1/2 cup of frozen berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, or a mix!) and blend them for a minute or two in a high-speed blender. If you need, add 1-2 tbsp of water to liquify the blended berries.

Swirl the blended berry mixture into the cheesecake dip. Enjoy with fruit slices, strawberries, graham crackers, pretzels and more! How easy was that?
