What Exactly is a Dietitian?
Registered Dietitians (RDs) are the regulated healthcare professionals in food and nutrition. They are food and nutrition experts that are required to earn Bachelor’s and often Master’s-level degrees, complete accredited practical training, pass a National certification exam, and meet continuing education criteria in order to stay up to date in their field.
To learn more about what a dietitian is, what dietitians do, and how to become a dietitian, read the articles I wrote on Becoming a Registered Dietitian and The Difference Between a Dietitian and Nutritionist.

Experience:
My love of food and cooking started early. I grew up helping my parents and grandparents in the kitchen, learning the joy of preparing meals and sharing them with the people I love. By seventh grade, my friends and I were hosting dinner parties — cooking multi-course meals for our parents just for fun. That spark of creativity, nourishment, and connection around food has never left me.
I began sharing my healthy recipes online from my college dorm, continued while living in a 400-square-foot Toronto apartment during my dietetic internship, and kept it up through moves across Eastern Canada while working in clinical dietetics. Eventually, that drive turned into my full-time career in recipe development, content creation, and media nutrition communication.
Fun Facts About Me:

- I’ve seen The Office series too many times to count. It’s my comfort show.
- I’m a Sagittarius – I love travel and adventure (as long as I can also squeeze in a nap).
- East Coast Summers are my favourite. Sandy beaches and lobster rolls, yes please!
- I’m married to my high school sweetheart and together we have the sweetest son!
- My coffee order: an americano with cream or a plain cafe latte with good old cow’s milk.
