Like many legumes, chickpeas are a great plant-based protein option. In addition to their protein content, chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans) are a great source of dietary fibre and other important nutrients like iron, magnesium, vitamin B6 and calcium.

If you’re looking to experiment with recipes featuring chickpeas, try my vegetarian greek chickpea burgers or try your hand at making falafels. If you want to keep it simple, add chickpeas to a kale salad or mash them up to make chickpea salad sandwiches.
