Whipped Feta Dip with Roasted Tomatoes
Creamy whipped feta dip with garlicky roasted tomatoes is bound to be a crowd-pleasing appetizer. While it seems fancy, it’s really quite simple to make.

What is Whipped Feta Dip?
You may be thinking “hmm..whipped feta dip, I’ve never heard of that before.” I don’t blame you. But after you try it, you’ll be wondering where this crowd-pleasing appetizer has been your whole life.
Whipped feta dip is exactly as it sounds. You take a block of feta cheese and, well, whip it into a smooth, creamy dip with a handful of other ingredients. Yes, it’s that simple!
This recipe for whipped feta dip calls for roasted or blistered tomatoes on top. The great thing about this step is that it doesn’t add much extra work. You can just throw the tomatoes in the oven at the start and then focus on creating your delicious dip.
You can also feel free to omit the tomatoes and just enjoy your dip on its own with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of herbs. But, why not get some veggies in? I am a dietitian after all.

What to Serve with Whipped Feta Dip:
While I find the dip best enjoyed with a pita chip or toasted baguette, you can also enjoy it with an array of foods like:
- Tortilla chips
- Sliced pita bread or mini pita rounds
- Assorted crackers
- Sliced fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumber, bell peppers and celery
If you have leftovers of this dip, I have recently discovered that it is also delicious as a spread on veggie sandwiches and wraps. Yum!
Ingredients for Whipped Feta Dip:
To make this whipped feta dip, you’ll need:
- Cherry tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Minced fresh garlic
- Salt and pepper
- Feta cheese
- Plain greek yogurt
- Light cream cheese
- Lemon juice & lemon zest
- Honey
- Fresh herbs like thyme, oregano or parsley
How to Make Whipped Feta Dip:
Step 1: Roast Tomatoes
Preheat your oven to 400F. Start by roasting your tomatoes in the oven. In an 8×8 inch baking pan, toss a pint of cherry tomatoes with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and some sprigs of fresh herbs like thyme or oregano. Roast the tomatoes for 20 minutes until they start to blister. When you remove the tomatoes from the oven, let them cool in the pan before adding to the dip.
Step 2: Combine Feta, Greek Yogurt and Cream Cheese
Add feta cheese, greek yogurt and cream cheese to a blender or food processor and pulse until combined and a creamy consistency begins to form. It’s okay if the mixture is still slightly crumbly at this point, it will smooth out once we add other ingredients.Note: You can also make this recipe using a stand mixer or hand beaters, it just may not turn out as smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Add Olive Oil
With the blender or food processor running, slowly pour in the olive oil and continue to process until combined and the mixture is starting to smooth out.
Step 4: Add Remaining Ingredients
Add in the lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, salt, pepper and minced garlic and continue to pulse until everything is well-combined and the dip is smooth and creamy with minimal lumps.
Step 5: Serve!
Transfer dip to a bowl or serving dish, garnish with fresh herbs like thyme, oregano or parsley and serve with crackers, bread or veggies of choice.
