Ingredients for Greek Chicken Meatballs & Homemade Tzatziki Sauce
For the Greek Chicken Meatballs:
To make the meatballs, you’ll need:
- 1 lb. lean ground chicken
- 1/4 cup whole wheat panko crumbs
- 1/4 cup white or yellow onion, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- zest of 1/2 lemon
- 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- large pinch of salt and pepper
- 1 large egg
- 2 ounces feta cheese
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
To make the homemade tzatziki sauce, you’ll need:
- Plain greek yogurt (You can use 2% or nonfat, but I like the creaminess that 5% or full-fat yogurt offers)
- Grated cucumber
- Finely chopped fresh dill
- Minced garlic
- Lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
How to Make The Chicken Meatballs:
These Greek Chicken Meatballs are quite simple to make. First, add your lean ground chicken to a large mixing bowl, followed by the whole wheat panko crumbs, grated onion, garlic, parsley, lemon zest, spices, egg, and feta.
Next, with clean hands, mix all of the ingredients together until well-combined. Be careful not to over-work the chicken mixture!
Then, again, with clean hands or a small cookie scoop, form the chicken mixture into approximately 1 tablespoon sized balls. Place the balls onto your prepared baking sheet and bake in the oven at 400F for approximately 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Once the meatballs are done, remove from the oven and serve with Tzatziki Sauce.
How to Make the Tzatziki Sauce:
To make the 5-Minute Homemade Tzatziki, whisk together plain Greek yogurt (can substitute with regular plain yogurt), grated cucumber, chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Taste, and add more garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt or pepper to taste. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
What to Serve Greek Chicken Meatballs with:
There are many foods that pair well with these Greek Chicken Meatballs and Homemade Tzatziki. But seeing as they’re a great protein source, I recommend serving them with a grain or starch and a side of vegetables to create a satisfying, well-balanced meal. See some examples below!
Grains/Starches to Pair with Greek Chicken Meatballs:
- Rice
- Roasted Potatoes
- Pita
- Pasta Salad
- Sweet Potato Fries
Vegetables to Pair with Greek Chicken Meatballs:

- Garden Salad (use whatever greens and/or vegetables you have!)
- Roasted Vegetables (asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, etc.)

Can You Freeze These Meatballs?
