Cinnamon Roll Smoothie Recipe:
I don’t know if I’ve ever met anyone as obsessed with cinnamon rolls as my partner, Patrick. Every time we walk into a cafe or lunch spot, he’s eyeing the class case displaying the baked goods. If there’s cinnamon rolls, you know he’s eyeing them.
He has basically made it a goal of his to try the cinnamon rolls wherever he goes. So far his favourites are from Rosen’s Cinnamon Buns in Toronto and Trident Cafe in Halifax. He’s also a fan of the vegan ones I make from Minimalist Baker every Christmas.
Now, I don’t have a cinnamon roll recipe here on the blog just yet. But, I now have a recipe for a vegan and gluten-free Cinnamon Roll Smoothie. It has everything you need to build a healthy smoothie, as it’s full of healthy fats, fibre and protein.
Oh, and its Patrick-approved.
Cinnamon Roll Smoothie Ingredients
There’s a short list of simple ingredients that you’ll need to make this smoothie:
Frozen bananas. For sweetness, creamy texture and fibre. You can use non-frozen bananas, however the smoothie may not reach desired creaminess.
Almond Butter. Also for creaminess and for healthy fats, which give us a little extra staying power.
Hemp seeds add a mild nutty flavour, fibre, omega-3’s and plant-based protein.
Vanilla extract to up the sweet flavour. Cinnamon, because, cinnamon roll.
Non-dairy milk or whatever milk you choose to use!

Suggested Substitutions:
Here are some substitution ideas for those who are looking to switch things up, have allergies, or don’t have all of the ingredients listed!
If you’re looking to sneak some veggies into your smoothie, you could sub one banana for 1 cup of frozen cauliflower! It may be slightly less sweet, but I promise you won’t taste the cauliflower.
Instead of almond butter, you could use peanut butter or cashew butter.
I have also made this smoothie with flax seed meal in place of hemp seeds and it was just as delicious!
