5-Minute Avocado Crema with Cilantro and Lime

Avocado crema is a creamy, fresh, and tangy, sauce made primarily out of avocados, lime juice, and cilantro.
It’s similar to guacamole, but more creamy and smooth in texture, and it tends to be blended instead of mashed up. I find it also a little more punchy and tangy than guac as well. Safe to say, it’s delicious!
I originally created this recipe for Avocado Lime Crema to pair with my Loaded Vegetarian Nachos recipe. It was such a hit that I actually use it on my juicy Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas as well!
And honestly, this avocado crema sauce recipe pairs well with a variety of dishes. From nachos, to fajitas, tacos, bowls, and more! It’s a great way to elevate your meal and add a boost of nutrition (hello, healthy fats)!

Here are some ways that this avocado lime cilantro sauce adds nutrition to your meals:
- Fibre and Healthy Fats: You probably already know that avocados are a great source of healthy fats. Particularly, specific monounsaturated fats that are associated with reducing LDL cholesterol levels and increasing HDL (good cholesterol) levels. In addition to the fat content, avocados are also a good source of dietary fibre. One medium avocado offers 10 grams of fibre!
- Micronutrient-Dense: Besides fibre and healthy fats, avocados are also rich in a variety of vitamins (including vitamin K, vitamin E, vitamin C, and B-vitamins) and minerals (potassium and magnesium).
- Protein Boost: I love using Greek yogurt in my recipes for extra creaminess. This avocado crema recipe uses greek yogurt in addition to avocados because Greek yogurt is a great source of protein (it contains more protein than regular yogurt). By incorporating it into this sauce, it adds a little boost of protein to whatever you eat it with!
- It Tastes Good! Here’s the thing: when we add a tasty sauce to a nutritious meal (like a black bean and sweet potato taco bowl for instance), it makes eating all of the healthy foods in the meal taste even better – so we eat more of them!

To make this recipe, you’ll need a blender or food processor and these ingredients:
- Ripe avocados
- Fresh cilantro
- Plain greek yogurt
- Limes (or lime juice)
- Garlic
- Sriracha (if you like a little kick)
- Salt
How to Make Avocado Crema:
It’s so easy and only takes 5 minutes!
Substitution Suggestions:
This recipe is naturally gluten-free and vegetarian. To make it vegan, you can:
- Swap the plain Greek yogurt for a non-dairy Greek yogurt
- Omit the Greek yogurt altogether and add another avocado
Storage Tips:
Store leftovers in the fridge in a sealed airtight container. It should keep for about 1 week, but it may start to brown a little due to oxidation.
